Visual Quality Plan Groene Singel Antwerp (B)
Nature restoration in the Antwerp roadside landscape.
The 'Groene Singel' project, which ran from 2011 to 2013, was commissioned by the city of Antwerp, in collaboration with Maxwan, Karres and Brands and Antea Group. The project area, located in Antwerp, covers 680 hectares and includes the entire area around the Antwerp Ring, from the Kennedy Tunnel to Luchtbal. The neighborhoods that border this area are often densely populated and are in need of green public spaces, schools, sports infrastructure, youth facilities, cultural and leisure spaces. The 'Groene Singel' is a large open space with great potential to be used for many urban purposes.
However, this space faces significant challenges due to noise and poor air quality, which hampers its development. The 'Groene Singel' image quality plan proposes a strategy to address these problems. It calls for a green, ecological and intelligent space that is visually appealing and improves the quality of life in the city. The plan suggests that the development of environmental and visual values can begin with limited resources.
The strategy is considered intelligent because it anticipates future improvements in the conditions around the 'Groene Singel', such as cleaner cars and reduced noise pollution. As these restrictions are overcome, more space will become available for the city and its visitors. The visual quality plan aims to transform the 'Groene Singel' into a visually appealing and ecologically valuable green landscape. It also strives to make the area highly usable by creating effective infrastructure for various types of traffic, public spaces for recreation and buildings for education, sports and culture.

Images/videos are always set to 4 or 6 columns wide.
Within a 'Project', two additional sizes are used:
- Full-screen image (all columns)
- Carousel (8 columns)
A maximum of 2 images or videos can be on the same row, with at least 1 column of space between them.
'Panels' always accompany corresponding content and never stand alone.
Only one 'Panel' can be attached to each row.
The Visual Quality Plan (BKP) calls for a green, ecological and intelligent space that is visually appealing and improves the quality of life in the city.
The plan suggests that the development of environmental and visual values can begin with limited resources.

The future of the 'Groene Singel' is being expanded into an even more powerful ecological system through careful management and interventions focused on connectivity.
Staying in the public domain of the Groene Singel is made more attractive by better organizing the roadside landscape and infrastructure.
