After 20 years HUB architecten, we wanted to refocus our identity, who we are, what we do and where we want to go. We have completed a nice journey together with design agency Mirror Mirror and are happy to show you the result of our rebranding.

On September 17th, Bart Biermans will give a lecture in the lecture series “Design by thinking of...”, which offers architects a platform to share their world of thought and design with peers. The theme from which Bart starts is “the long now”.

Hanne, David, Hans, René, and Frederic bring over 80 years of combined experience within our studio. Each has played a key role in shaping our architecture and services over the years. Their partnership marks an important step forward — strengthening our continuity, deepening the quality of our work, and sharpening our focus as we move ahead in the architectural field.

Yesterday (29/08), the official presentation of the Europa Nostra winners plaque took place. Antwerp City Hall won the European Heritage Awards/Europa Nostra Award 2025 in the Conservation & Adaptive Reuse category. This prestigious European recognition crowns the exceptional efforts to preserve, restore and repurpose the historic town hall.

The Sports Park Lier, a new green space for sports and recreation for the residents of Lier and a new home for the K. Lyra Lierse football club, has recently been completed. The grand opening of the sports park will take place on Friday (29/08).

Our team consisting of HUB architecten and Studio Roma was recently selected for the Open Call for the renovation and expansion of the historic mining stadium in Beringen. In addition to the renovation, the project requires a renewed anchoring of the site in the social, cultural and spatial fabric of the neighborhood and region.

We are very proud that our project, Antwerp City Hall, has won the prestigious European Heritage Awards/Europa Nostra Awards. The restoration and renovation of Antwerp City Hall has won an award in the Conservation and Redevelopment category.

Our team consisting of RE-ST, HUB architecten, Heedfeld, Util and Daidalos Peutz was selected by Woonhaven for the competition for the renovation of building B in Europark North. It is a challenging project around several themes such as energy renovation, transition in housing types and improving the relationship with the environment and the surrounding landscape.

We are happy to be part of the 'Wild Harmony' publication with our Antwerp Management School project. The book, which highlights 30 years of urban garden design by Bart & Pieter, shows the courtyard and roof garden on the AMS site.

The implementation of our design for the sustainable renovation of a social residential area in Peterbospark, Anderlecht (B) is well underway.

On 02/06/'25, Bart Biermans (HUB architecten) and Philippe Lemineur (Origin Architects and Engineers) will have a 'conversation' at the As Found Symposium/Workshop II — Coversations, organized by KU Leuven and TU Delft.

We are fully preparing to implement our design for a mixed urban city block on the Eilandje in Antwerp.

Recently, we received the environmental permit for our project for the municipal core of Asse (B). The project is a vibrant ensemble of residential buildings, with a commercial plinth, around a new municipal square.

The second building on the Sint-Anna site in Berchem (B) was recently completed. This concerns the restoration and extension of a historic building wing with a chapel. The project provides assisted living homes and supportive care facilities.

We are currently working on preparing the building permit application for the restoration and refurbishment of a historic hospital into an administrative center for the city of Bruges.

This project includes the renovation of the former Donderhuys, one of the historic defensive towers of the medieval city wall, into a single-family home. Over the years, the volume has been fully integrated into the urban fabric and has become invisible to passers-by. Our design will make the historic contour readable again.

The 'High-Lane' residential tower in Tilburg houses a special community where residents are committed to providing guidance to fellow residents with a vulnerable background. Recently, we had a number of nice conversations about this.

We are extremely pleased to announce that we won the limited request for proposals for the sustainable renovation and refurbishment of 2 office buildings on Belliardstraat and Froissartstraat in Brussels (B). The project is part of the large-scale operation Cityforward, with Whitewood as the initiating investor.

The construction of the new stadium for Lyra-Lierse football club is underway.

The realization of our design for Hof Berlamuze in Lier (B) is progressing rapidly.

The realization of our design for a compact residential building in the Kloosterstraat, Antwerp (B) is currently underway. The concept is the contemporary translation of a city palace, a reference to historic buildings in the immediate vicinity.

The final realization phase of our design at Plantin Moretuslei Antwerp is running at full speed. The project foresees 4 city buildings around a publicly accessible courtyard.

Our team, consisting of HUB architects, Origin, Ney & Partners, RCR, Daidalos Peutz and Tractebel, won the competition for the restoration and refurbishment of the Loodswezen in Antwerp (B) into the international culinary research and experience center Smaakhaven!

The realization of our design for the restoration of the mining buildings in Beringen is well underway. The buildings are being respectfully refurbished into the Mineset mining experience center.

We received the building permit for our design for a mixed housing project in Deurne (B). In the coming months, we will be working on the preparation of the implementation file.

The student accommodation on the site of the Theological and Pastoral Center in Wilrijk (B) was recently completed. The project involves the restoration of 4 pavilions designed by architect Paul Felix, and the addition of 2 new buildings.

Our project for the P+Rs in Antwerp (B) was published in the Chinese architecture magazine ArchiCreation - Concrete in architecture. Thanks to the editors for the extensive reflection!

Our design team, consisting of HUB architects, Office WINHOV, Bureau Bouwtechniek, Ney & Partners, Ingenium, Atelier Horizon and FPC, has won the competition for the realization of a new Collection Center in Antwerp (B).

Last weekend, Dakkan took place on, among other venues, the highest floor of the P+R Linkeroever (Antwerp, B). Just the way it was intended: A parking building that can be used used in a variety of ways, and for the public.

Last weekend, the 'Mine Happening' took place. One last chance to visit the historic mining buildings in Beringen (B) before the construction of the works starts.

The new NAC in Puurs-Sint-Amands (B) was recently completed. The project forms a cornerstone in the master plan 'Gardens of Puurs' designed by PlusOffice and Delva.

The works for the sports park and the new stadium of Lyra-Lierse football club have started. The project includes a broad sports landscape that is open to public shared use.

Looking forward is also looking back. Today, HUB architecten is celebrating it's 20th birthday.

We have been working for a long time to further strengthen the center of Machelen (B). Recently, the 2nd sub-project was completed according to our design. The other projects were designed by Bulk Architects and 360 Architects.
